Baltimore's Immigration History Preserved in Locust Point – South Baltimore  Peninsula Post

The Baltimore Immigration Memorial and Locust Point Community United Church of Christ have established a museum in the historic Immigrant House, which sheltered thousands of immigrants from 1904 to 1915. Discover exhibits on Germans, Irish, Jews, Poles, Italians, Greeks, and more who arrived through Baltimore, once America’s third-largest port of entry. Learn about African American migration and recent arrivals from Asia and Latin America.

Watercolor Workshop

From 6:00 to 8:00pm

A picture is worth a thousand words!

In this workshop, we’ll blend words and pictures in an artistic fusion of printed page and watercolor!  Several vintage books will be provided for page selections, but participants may bring a pre-selected page with special meaning if they wish (keep in mind that our watercolor paper size is 9 x 12).  Our pages will be affixed to watercolor paper and we will enhance our written words with our custom watercolor designs.  

                  

Where: TAC Gallery, 210 W. Pennsylvania Avenue. 
(Note that parking in Towson is free after 6:00 p.m.)

Narrative Collage
or Assemblage Workshop

Elaborate the narrative of a personal photograph using collage/assemblage techniques. In this workshop participants will create a collage or assemblage using found materials/objects to tell more of the story of a personal, meaningful photograph. The photograph can be of a person, place, animal, or event. Materials can include papers, fabrics, and small objects. I will share concepts, techniques and tips from my studio practice. I will share a powerpoint presentation and examples of narrative collages and assemblages.

Participants will need to supply their photograph/s, collage materials and assemblage objects.

Instructor will supply background paper, adhesives (mod podge, glue stick, hot glue, E6000), brushes, scissors, x-acto knives.

The Homewood Museum

The Homewood Museum  a National Historic Landmark, Homewood is one of the best-surviving examples of Federal-period Palladian architecture in the nation. Built circa 1801is offering a free admission in the month of February in honor of Black History Month so that everyone has a chance to hear the powerful stories of its early Black residents, including their struggles, contributions, resistance, and resilience!

Towson Arts Collective members enjoyed a special guided tour of the Goucher College Art Galleries in January, 2025, to explore the vibrant works on display and enjoy an enriching experience with fellow art enthusiasts.  Many thanks to Exhibitions Coordinator Liz Faust for hosting this informative tour.
