CORNFIELD SENTINEL - This farmhouse in Carroll County is crowded on the east and south by cornfields. The family also runs a small market on the site stocked with in-season farm fresh produce and beautiful on-site grown flowers. On a warm day in the fall, before Halloween, the sun dips behind the house, backlighting this magnificent example of rural American architecture. I did this painting en plein air* standing in the front yard.
